Former Super Falcons player, Ifeanyi Chiejine dies at 36
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has been thrown into mourning following the death of a former Super Falcon player, Ifeanyi Chiejina.
The football body announced the death of Chiejine, Thursday, in a brief statement in which it said the footballer died on Wednesday after a brief illness.
According to Wikipedia, Chiejine, who was born on May 17, 1983, had scored 15 goals in 61 games for Nigeria as of 2007.
Ifeanyi was playing for SSVSM-Kairat Almaty in the Kazakhstani Championship at the time of her death.
The midfield play maker was pioneer captain of the first Nigerian team to the then U19 Women’s World Cup in 2002.
NFF stated, “We are sad to announce the sudden demise of former @NGSuper_Falcons player Ifeanyichukwu Chiejine who passed on after a brief illness on Wednesday, 21st August 2019.
“Ifeanyi captained the first set of the U19 National Women’s team to the first U19 (Now U20) @FIFAWWC in 2002.”
