Tragedy struck on Saturday in Bayelsa State when three police operatives reportedly drowned while on their way to Southern Ijaw Local Government Area for election duties.
The yet-to-be-identified officers were on their way to monitor the Senatorial Bye-election taking place in two senatorial zones of the state December 5, when the boat they were traveling in capsized.
Bayelsa State Police Command spokesman, SP Asinim Butswat who confirmed the incident, disclosed that the boat capsized on its way to Oporoma, Headquarters of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.
He, however, pointed out that they were yet to ascertain the actual number of Police officers involved in the incident.
