ABSU fires lecturer over sex-for-grades scandal


A lecturer with the Abia State University Uturu has been fired by the school’s management over his alleged role in a sex for grades scandal.

The management of institute sacked the senior lecturer and former Acting Head of the Department of Mass Communication faculty, Michael Ukaegbu in the alleged crime.

ABSU informed Ukaegbu of the development in a communique issued after the 148th regular and resumed meetings of the Governing Council of the university held last Thursday under the chairmanship of the Pro-Chancellor, Adolphus Wabara.

Registrar of the institution, Acho Elendu also informed  that the Council also ratified the dismissal of another staff, Mr Leonard Chukwuma over alleged admission fraud and racketeering.
