After seven days in the kidnappers’ den, the abducted Auxiliary Bishop of Owerri Achdiocese, Most Rev. Doc. Moses Chikwe, and his driver, Ndubuisi Robert, have regained their freedom.
The Bishop and his driver were kidnapped on December 27, 2020 while driving along World Bank – Umuguma road in Imo state.
Imo State Police Command spokesman, Orlando Ikeokwu, who confirmed their safe release to newsmen, said the clergyman and his driver were released unhurt and without any ransom paid.
According to Ikeowku, the release was sequel to a sting operation by the men of the Imo State Police Command.
The driver who was inflicted with a deep cut by his abductors, was, however, rushed to the hospital after their release so he could receive treatment.
