Vice Chancellor, Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo, Prof. Dapo Asaju, said 19 students of the institution would be conferred with First Class Honours at the 10th Convocation ceremony.
Asaju disclosed this at a Pre-Convocation News Conference held at the institution in Oyo.
According to the VC, a total of 287 students shall be conferred with Bachelors Degrees at the occasion slated for Oct. 14 to 19.

“Of these, 19 students made First Class, 102 made Second Class Upper Division, 133 made Second Class Lower and 33 of them made Third Class.
“Also, a total of 339 post graduate students will be graduating at the convocation,” he said.
The Vice Chancellor said that at the end of the convocation, a total of 4,068 students, would have graduated from the institution since its inception.
“Before this edition of the convocation a total of 3,778 undergraduates had graduated from the University,” he said.
He, however, said that for this edition of the ceremony, eminent personalities, which include the former Head of the Interim National Government of Nigeria, Earnest Shonekan, would be honoured.
“Also, three other council members Justice Babasola Ogundare (rtd), Justice of Ogun State High Court, Olabode Ogunlana, Nigeria’s first indigenous Managing Director of NICON and Mr Emmanuel Kampouris, an American will be honoured,” he said.
Speaking on physical development in the university, Asaju said that apart from the 10 reported projects, which were inaugurated in 2017 by the Pro-Chancellor/Chairman of Governing Council, Chief Wole Olanipekun, other projects have also been completed.
“Among these are construction of 10 classrooms for A.C.U College, completion of extension of the three-storey building of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and construction of a Students’ Centre building.
Others include construction of a new building for the Faculty of Social Sciences, new building for the Department of Communications and Media Studies, and development of final phase of the campus road network.

On other activities lined up for the convocation, Asaju said that the convocation thanksgiving ceremony would come up on Sunday, Oct. 14.
An alumni lecture will also be delivered by Miss Temitope Olayiwola, a 2013 First Class graduate in Accounting.
Other events according to the Vice Chancellor are a lecture by Prof. Peter Okebukola, former Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission (NUC) and a convocation play titled “Our Goal, Our Prize’ written and directed by Dr. Bode Sowande.
