A lawmaker in the Borno State House of Assembly, Umar Audi, has died. Audi was representing Bayo constituency in the state assembly before his death.
The deceased was reportedly, initially rejected at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital on Tuesday evening as the health workers insisted that there was no bed space.
Audi, however, breathed his last shortly after his family members prevailed upon the hospital authorities to admit him.
An eyewitness was quoted as saying; “He died shortly after they admitted him. His sample has been sent to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control to certify if the death has anything to do with COVID-19.”
Audi’s death is coming barely a week after another lawmaker, Bukar Wakil Lawan, representing Nganzai constituency in Borno state died of Coronavirus.
