A district head and his two sons have been killed by rampaging bandit terrorists during an attack on Gada community in Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The incident occurred on Wednesday when the armed men stormed the community killing the district head of Gada, Umaru Bawan-Allah, and his two sons.
Zamfara State Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Dosara who confirmed the attack hours after the incident, stated that apart from the killings, the bandits also razed down 00 house of the district head of the community
“The security agencies, including the Nigerian Air Force are currently on the trail of the bandits,” Dosara disclosed.
An eyewitness in the community said that the assailants invaded the area in the early hours and unleashed mayhem on the residents.
He revealed that the armed men abducted many others from the community, apart from killing the district head of Gada and his two sons.
The attack occurred about three months after the bandits abducted the Emir of Bungudu, Hassan Attahiru, along the Kaduna-Abuja Highway. Gada community is seven kilometres from Bungudu town, the headquarters of the local government.
Attahiru spent 32 days in the custody of his abductors before he was released after he was kidnapped in September , 2021.
Three persons were killed in the Bugundu attack on some communities in Gusau LGA on Sunday. Also, an unspecified number of villagers, mostly women, were reportedly kidnapped during the assault on Geba, Tsakuwa, Gidan Kada, and Gidan Kaura, among other villages.
According to reports, the bandits invaded the communities on motorcycles, for hours moving from village to village, looting shops and houses for food items without any intervention from the security agencies.
