    Burna Boy carts home Soundcity 2019 awards, African Artist of the Year

    Afro-fusion exponent, Damini Ogulu a.k.a Burna Boy, has carted home the most number of plaques at the 2019 Soundcity MVP Awards, including ‘African Artiste of the Year’.

    Burna-Boy also clinched the ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Listener’s Choice’ and ‘Best Make MVP at the award ceremony which took in Lagos on Saturday night.

    Burna Boy’s third award was received on stage by his mother, who thanked her son’s producer, Phantom, who produced his hit song ‘YE’, for his support and contributions to his success.

    International super stars, Davido and Wizkid got one award each in the ‘Best Pop Song’ and ‘Best Collaboration’ categories, respectively.

    Performances from Teni, Victo AD and Niniola lit up the ceremony.
