A junior student of Government Secondary School Kongo, Zaria in Kaduna State, Miss Parmata Abdulkarim Misari, who was abducted from her boarding school and forcefully converted to Islam, has finally regained her freedom after four weeks in the captivity of her abductors.
The JSS 3 student was reportedly kidnapped on the 20th of July, 2018. The school authorities however, denied any knowledge of her whereabouts after her disappearance.

Meanwhile, her parents, Mr. Abdulkarim Misari and Mrs Hauwa Misari, who were unaware that their daughter was missing from the boarding school, were shocked when they were informed that their daughter was missing and that the entire School management was claiming ignorance of the development for four days her disappearance.
After the heart broken parents contacted the Kaduna State Police Commissioner, investigation revealed that a matron in the school lured the girl out of the school on the pretext that her mother was ill and needed her presence at home.
The matron took the girl to the school’s gate where a man was instructed to take her home with his motorcycle, but the man, took her to the home of the village head of Tukur-Tukur, Zaria.
Misari’s ordeal began in the home of the village head because the village head, along with the the district head, and some other Islamic leaders immediately detained her, converted her to Islam, and changed her name from Parmata to Fatima. They took her through a rigourous process of indoctrinating her in their religion.
Through discreet investigation, the police uncovered the girl‘s whereabouts on August 15, 2018 and on Thursday, August 16, 2018, she was freed from her captors.

Parmata was said to have been kept in the custody of the village head’s wife, who fed her one meal per day. She has been reunited with her parents and is currently undergoing rehabilitation as well as receiving medical treatment.
Parmata who missed her third term exam as a result of the abduction, is likely to repeat the class.
The matron and other culprits in the abduction saga have been arrested and helping the police in their investigation.
