COVID-19 Task Force chairman in Abia dies of heart attack


The chairman of the Abia State Task Force on COVID-19 Mr. Solomon Ogunji has died after he was rushed to the hospital.

The Abia State Government announced the death of the chairman who also doubles as the state’s Commissioner for Environment, Solomon Ogunji.

The Commissioner passed away on Saturday at the Abia State University Teaching Hospital, Aba. He was said to have died of high blood pressure related complications.

In a statement by the Commissioner for Information, John Okiyi Kalu, the Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu who received the sad news with shock has personally communicated and condoled with the family of the deceased.

In a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka, the governor also described Ogunji death as a deeply profound personal loss. He said the commissioner was his best friend from when he was 13 years old.
