Ahead of the reschedule presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday, President Muhammadu Buhari has threatened ballot box snatchers and thugs attempting to rig the election of instant death.
President Buhari warned that anybody involved in ballot box snatching during the February 23rd and March 6th general elections will pay with his or her live.
Speaking at an All Progressives Congress (APC) Caucus meeting in Abuja on Monday, President Buhari said that an unlawful act such as ballot snatching will not be tolerated.
He added that he has given the police and the military instructions to be ruthless with anyone that would want to cause trouble at polling units.
“I have briefed the law enforcement agencies. They have identified hotspots and flashpoints. They too should be prepared to move. They too must have made their arrangements as much as possible.
“Anybody that decides to snatch boxes or lead thugs to the polling units may be the last unlawful action he will take.
“I have told the military and the police to be ruthless. We are not going to be blamed that we want to rig elections. I want Nigerians to be respected. Let them go to wherever they want across the parties. I am not afraid. I have gone to the 36 states and Abuja. I think I have gotten enough support across the country to look after me.
“I am going to warn anybody who thinks he has enough influence in his own locality to lead a body of thugs to snatch boxes or to disturb the voting system, he will do it at the expense of his own life” Buhari warned.
