President Muhammadu Buhari was welcomed into Owerri, Imo State capital today by empty and deserted street on his official visit following IPOB orders.
The residents of the state stayed back at their homes, even as Buhari arrived the South Eastern state on his well publicized official visit.
The residents’ cold shoulder came after the Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB) directed all residents of the state to sit at home as a form of protest that Buhari is not ”welcome ”to the state in solidarity with their leader Nnamdi Kanu, who is still under the captivity of the Department of State Services (DSS).
A clear evidence of disapproval of the president’s leadership, as early as 8 am up to 11 am the streets of Owerri were visibly empty. Major places in the Owerri metropolis including banks, filling stations, schools and markets were completely empty.
