Nigerians protesting under the #EndSARS campaign, Friday night, held a candlelight vigil for hundreds of Nigerians who have been extra-judicially killed by police operatives.
The #EndSARS protesters are calling for the complete overhaul of the Nigeria Police and scraping of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit over the wanton killings, to honor the dead.
Following the protests which have lasted for ten days, the protesters gathered around various areas of the Lagos metropolis to mourn the death of their family members, friends and loved ones, who met their cruel end at the hands of the heartless SARS operatives.
At the different locations where the candlelight event held, prayers were said after which the demonstrators sang the National Anthem to honour the country.
Meanwhile apart from Lagos the candlelight vigil was marked, a similar event was witnessed at the nation’s capital, Abuja, and in Port Harcourt.
A lot of Nigerians, who could not physically join the event, took to social media in solidarity with the protesters on the ground.
The candlelight ceremony is part of the #EndSARS protest aimed at not just seeing to the disbandment of SARS, but also bring justice for those who suffered various injustices at the hands of the police.
