Gov Godwin Obaseki has started appointing staunch loyalists of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State into his cabinet.
The appointment is fallout of his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP along with his deputy Mr. Philip Shaibu both of whom have been given waivers to contest for governorship in the coming PDP primaries election in the state.
One of his first appointments is that of Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters which has gone to a PDP stalwart, Hon. David Okoh Aigbodion.
The appointment letter addressed to Aigbodion, was signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Barr. Osarodion Ogie and dated, 19 June 2020.
Parts of the appointment letter read:”I write to inform you that His Excellency, Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, has approved your appointment as the Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters with effect from April 1, 2020”.
Hon Aigbodion who was the PDP chairman of Owan West Local Government Area was rewarded for his loyalty to the party in the face of the challenges confronted by the party following the emergence of Adams Oshiohmole as governor under the APC.
EducationTell gathered that most of Obaseki’s commissioners and appointees who did not join his defection train would be relieved of their appointments and replaced with PDP faithful.
