The Ebonyi State governor Dave Umahi has described Femi Fani Kayode as a liar saying that he did not convinced him to defect to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Umahi made the claim on Friday17 September during a chat on Channels Sunrise programme where he said Fani Kayode did not have such clout to cause any governor to defect from their party.
Kayode who defected on Thursday from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling APC months after he swore that he would rather die than defect to the APC had claimed that he convinced Governors Ben Ayade of Cross River State, Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State and Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State to move to APC.
Umahi insisted that Kayode did not have any hand in his defection and the defections of the other governors, stressing that as chairman of the south east governors’ forum Kayode could not have convinced him to move to the APC.
According to Umahi, he only wanted his region to have a representation at the centre.
