The Governing Council of the Federal University Wukari, in Taraba has appointed Dr Aboki Sallah as new Register of the university.
Chairman of the governing council of the university, Alhaji Uba Ahmed said this while briefing newsmen in Jalingo on Tuesday, adding that the council also appointed Mr Paul Akpa as the university’s Bursar.
Ahmed said that the appointments were confirmed during the 17th meeting of the council on Monday in Jalingo.
He disclosed that the two were selected from 18 candidates who applied for the positions.
“The council received six applications for the position of Registrar, while 12 people applied for the position of Bursar,” he said.
Ahmed who congratulated the two on their appointment, said the focus of the university in making the appointment is to ensure that it continues to build on its reputation as one of the top new generation federal university in Nigeria.
He noted that the university was known for extensive development in infrastructure, new academic programmes, human resource development and community service.
“I believe that the new Registrar and the Bursar have the capacities to provide requisite leadership in their areas of responsibilities to meet the university’s commitment in supporting Nigeria’s human development needs,” he said.
The new Registrar and the Bursar who were expected to resume office on May 5, 2020 were until their appointments, Deputy Registrar and Deputy Bursar of the university respectively.
