Finally, ASUU agrees to suspend10-month-old strike

After 10 months of industrial action, the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) has finally agreed to go back to the classroom

The union made this known on Wednesday, December a day after the minister of Labour and Productivity announced that the lecturers would resume their jobs in January.

National President of ASUU, Biodun Ogunyemi, made the announcement during a briefing of the union in Abuja.

Ogunyemi warned that the union would return to another round of strike action if the government fails in meeting its part of the agreement reached with the university lecturers for the strike to be called off. He noted that the reopening of the schools, considering the COVID-19 pandemic, lies with the Federal Government and Senate.
