First in Africa: Woman, 68, welcomes twins in Lagos

For the first time in Africa, a 68-year-old woman has been delivered of twins by doctors at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).

The Chairman of LUTH’s Medical Advisory Committee Prof. W. L. Adeyemo, made this known in a statement.

The lady who got pregnant for the first time through In vitro fertilisation (IVF), gave birth to her babies on Tuesday April 14.

She is said to be the ‘oldest verifiable’ first time mother in Nigeria and in Africa.
