The goat reportedly raped by 22-year-old Sunday Ogaji in Ekiti State has died and the suspected rapist dragged to court.
Ogaji who claimed to hail from Benue State was nabbed having sex with a she-goat in an uncompleted building in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State capital has been arraigned in court.
The suspect was arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court on Friday March 13, charged with ”unnatural offence”, an offence which contravened the provisions of Section 214(2) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
Police prosecution counsel, Sgt.Olubu Apata told the court that the suspect was caught red-handed in the act on March 4 at about 2:30 p.m at Basiri area of Ado-Ekiti. He said the she-goat the suspect raped died on the spot.
Ogaji, however, denied the charges as his counsel, Mr Timi Omotosho asked the court to grant him bail in the most liberal terms.
The court presided by Magistrate Kehinde Awosika granted the accused bail of N50,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case till March 31 for hearing.
