GoFundMe raises $4.6m in three days for George Floyd’s memorial


Three days after GoFundMe was created to help the family of slain George Floyd organise his memorial,  the fund has raised over $4.6 million..

George Floyd was brutally murdered the Minneapolis police officer who pinned him to the ground with their kneels on his neck and strangulated him in an attempt to arrest him.

The campaign created by Floyd’s brother, Philonise Floyd, has received more than 180,000 donations totaling $4,652,670,  as of Sunday morning. The initial goal was to raise $1.5 million.

One of the police officers, Derek Chauvin, who was filmed kneeling on Floyd’s neck, has been arrested and charged with a controversial third-degree murder and manslaughter in connection with the death, sparkling off nationwide protests that have turned violent in several cities.

Three other officers, Thomas Lane, Tou Thao, and J. Alexander Kueng, have all been fired in connection with Floyd’s death, but none have been arrested.

  1. Having read this I believed it was very enlightening. I appreciate you taking the time and effort to put this information together. I once again find myself spending way too much time both reading and leaving comments. But so what, it was still worthwhile!
