Gunmen have killed a 34-year-old postgraduate student of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Emmanuel Dauda Akuki.
The gunmen were said to have invaded the Nasarawa Housing Estate along Makurdi/Jos road on Saturday night, October 24 and killed the Forensic and Correctional Psychology student, carting away valuables items.
The killers reportedly jumped over the fence at the backyard before gaining entrance into the estate around 10pm while the deceased was stabbed at the back of his neck before being strangled to death.
Spokesperson of the state police command, ASP Nansel Ramhan, said an investigation had been launched to ascertain the rationale behind the murder.
Deputy Governor, of Nassarawa state, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, on Monday, October 25, paid a condolence visit to the family members of the deceased on behalf of Governor Abdullahi Sule and prayed the Lord grant the deceased eternal rest.
Dr Akabe directed the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adeshina Soyemi to as a matter of urgency bring the perpetrators of the heinous act to book to serve as a deterrent to others.
