Gunmen open fire, kill 3 traditional rulers at a meeting in Imo

Gunmen invade Ogun Church, abduct three worshippers


No fewer than three traditional rulers were killed when unknown gunmen opened fire during a meeting of the monarchs.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, in Nnenasa community, Headquarters of Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State.

The traditional rulers from the area numbering over 20 were having a stakeholders’ meeting at the local government headquarters in the community when gunmen invaded the venue and opened fire on them.

Other traditional rulers, it was gathered sustained varying degrees of injuries as they tried to scamper for safety.

Spokesperson of the Imo State Police Command, Mike Abattam, disclosed that two of the monarchs had been confirmed dead while the command had commenced investigation into the incident.

Among the monarchs confirmed dead were the Obi 1 of Okwudor autonomous community, Eze E. Anayochukwu Durueburuo and Eze Sampson Osunwa of Ihebineowerre autonomous community.
