A 22-year-old herdsman, Gambo Sa’idu, fell into a heated argument with his blood brother and fellow herdsmen, Halalu, over ownership of cattle, when, in a fit of rage, he beheaded Halalu.
Operatives of the Jigawa state police command who were immediately alerted stormed the place and arrested Gambo in Badakoshi village in Gwaram Local Government Area in the state.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Audu Jinjiri, said the suspect who is a drug addict, used a cutlass to hack his brother, 40, to death.
Gambo told the police that his brother owned more cows than him and this had always caused a rift between them.
The rift took a different turn on Wednesday when he picked up a cutlass and hacked Haladu to death during an argument.
The deceased was rushed to the Gwaram General Hospital where he was confirmed dead by the doctors.
Jinjiri said the remains of the deceased has since been buried according to Islamic rites while the case would be transferred to the State Criminal, Intelligence and Investigation Department in Dutse, for further investigation.
