Nigeria’s House of Representatives has voted to ban all forms of open worships across the country over fears of the spread of the coronavirus.
It said the measure was borrowed from Saudi Arabia, Iran and the Vatican that have banned open worship.
The lawmakers said Nigeria should act and suspend such large gatherings. They also banned all visitors from the National Assembly till further notice.
With this resolution, constituents seeking audience with their representatives will either write them and wait for reply or see members in the constituency offices.
Hon. Zakari Isa Chawai who moved the motion of urgent public importance, said even though government has put some measures in place to ensure flight restrictions into the country, there was the need to restrict public gatherings.
Chawai commended the management of the NYSC for shutting down its orientation camps across the country, stressing that there was the need to take more proactive measure and quarantine travellers to the country.
