JAMB candidate seeks N6m help to treat spinal cord injury
19 year old Miss Mercy Ohemu was going from Ogbadibo on her way to Makurdi in Benue State, on the 10 of April, to sit for the 2019 Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Examination when the vehicle she boarded was involved in a fatal accident in which all the passengers lost their lives except Miss Mercy.
The young girl, an indigene of Otukpa in Benue state, though survived the accident, but came out with a life threatening injury on her spinal cord. She was unable to sit for the examination again. Since then she has been unable to sit, stand or walk and has been bedridden in the Federal Medical Centre Apir, Makurdi in Benue State.
The doctors at the hospital have told Mercy’s mother that for her daughter to use her limbs, a corrective surgery which would cost N6 million would have to be carried out.
Mercy’s mother is a poor widow who only operates a grinding mill to sustain her two children, Mercy and her elder sister Favour.
The family is calling on well-meaning Nigerians to come to their rescue and save the life of Mercy.
“Mercy needs N6 million for a corrective surgery. We appeal to you to save a life with whatever you can. No amount is too small. Help her live a normal life again. God bless you,” she pleaded.
She also made available the following bank account where concerned citizens can send help;
