The Kano State governor Alhaji Abdullhi Ganduje said his Government has earmarked N2.5 billion for completion of abandoned education facilities in the state.
The governor made this known, Friday, when he met with indigenous contractors at the Government House, Kano.
“Kano State Government has set aside N2.5 billion to complete abandoned projects in primary schools in the state.
“The contracts were awarded five years ago and we reviewed the contracts because prices have changed.
”I request you to do quality job and finish in good time, as I have directed primary education board to pay all contractors with certificate once you resume to site,” he said,
Ganduje restated his commitment to develop the education sector for effective learning in the state.
The Chairman of State Universal Basic Education Board, Alhaji Zakari Bagwai, in his remarks, said that the governor had considered recalling to site, the contractors handling the work of 44 schools across the state.
According to him, out of the 44 schools, 12 have been completed and the governor is considering completing 14 out of the remaining 32.
He also said that 13 other critical education related projects would be completed.
“When this projects were completed, they would provide over 470 classrooms and each classroom would take a minimum of 60 pupils and the combine intake of these schools would be 35,000 learners,” he said.
