A lion which broke loose from its cage in the Kano zoo, ran into a cage full of goats and ate up all the goats before it was recaptured.
The lion escaped from the Kano Zoological Garden on Saturday, but was recaptured after a tranquiliser injection was shot at it.
Head of the Kano Zoological Garden, Sai’du Gwarzo, made this known in a chat with the BBC Hausa, said the lion was found inside the cage belonging to goats and had killed and eaten all the goats in the cage
“The rangers had succeeded in locking up the cage before the lion was shot with an injection which made him less harmful before it was captured and returned to its cage” Gwarzo said.
Governor Umar Ganduje’s aide Salihu Tanko Yakassi who also confirmed the escape of the lion had warned residents of the zoo road to be vigilant even though the lion was said to be within the premises of the zoo.
Salihu Tanko Yakasai had tweeted;
“It Is true that a Lion in Kano Zoo has escaped and the authorities are doing everything humanly possible to capture it. So far, there’s no cause for alarm as the lion is still within the premises of the Kano Zoo but those living within the area are advised to be vigilant.”
