The authorities of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka today denied allegation that their negligence caused the death of a 400-level student, Francis Chideu, Mmadubuobi, who slumped and died Saturday while playing basketball with his colleagues.
Mmadubuobi’s colleagues had taken to the streets of the school’s campus in Awka, to protest what they termed the death caused by the negligence of the school’s management.
Francis, a student of the Department of Applied Microbiology and Brewing, died after he suddenly slumped while playing basketball with his colleagues.

The students accused the school authorities of failing to act fast leading to the death of their colleague.
The school management in a statement signed by its Director, Information, Public Relations and Protocol, Dr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, denied the claim that they were negligent when Francis slumped.
The school however, said they acted promptly when Francis slumped but that he had died before he was rushed to the hospital.
