The Ogun State government has advocated the promotion of technical education to boost the country’s economic revolution.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Technical Education, Prof. Joseph Odemuyiwa, made this known during a courtesy visit on the Chairman and Chief Executive of Coleman Wires and Cables, Asiwaju of Remo Kingdom, Dr. Solomon Kayode Onafowokan in Sagamu, Ogun State.
Odemuyiwa said that for the Country to achieve Economic Revolution and meet up to World economic standard and practices, it requires to standardize its Technical Education.
He said a cross-link between Industry and Technical Institutions was the key to develop youths in industrial skills, noting that it would also encourage them to have relevant interest in entrepreneurship and contribute economically to the society.
The special adviser appreciated Asiwaju Onafowokan for his previous numerous philanthropic gestures towards the development of Education in the State, while seeking for further collaboration with his numerous companies for the upgrading of Technical and Vocational Education, in order to make the state’s industrial sectors employable for the youths in the society.
In his address, Onafowokan hailed the present administration-led by Prince Dapo Abiodun for his interest in Technical and Vocational Education, saying that he was keen in developing the standard of Technical Education in the State.
He then encouraged the State Government to retrain the current graduates in Vocational Education for relevant skills to get them off job hunting, saying that it would build them for a great future.
He promised the State that his company was ready to train more graduates on Mechanical and Electrical. aspects of Vocational in the State.
