The Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo has elected a new president general to anchor its affairs.
Former Nigerian ambassador to the United States, Israel, and Cyprus, Prof. George Obiozor, emerged President General of the group after an election.
Polling a total 304 votes, Obiozor emerged in an election held at Dan Anyim stadium in Owerri, the Imo state capital, on Sunday.
He replaces Chief Nnia Nwodo, erstwhile president General.
George Obiozor, a Professor of Political Science, is a native of Awo-Omamma in Imo state.
However, other candidates for the position of the President General boycotted the election.
Meanwhile, a Board of Trustee member representing Rivers State at Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr Jackson Omenazu, who spoke to newsmen at the venue of the election, declared the process that brought Obiozor to power as fraudulent.
