A corporal in the Kenyan police Joseph Muthunga has killed his boss after the senior officer scolded him for reporting to work late and drunk.
The incident occurred on Boxing Day, December 26, after Muthunga showed up late on duty at Kedong Ranch in Naivasha late and drunk.
The corporal took offence after the officer in charge of the camp, Senior Sergeant Ayub Onyango Polo, scolded him for his lateness.
Naivasha Deputy County Commissioner Kisilu Mutua said, “the suspect came to the camp drunk and got angry when he was questioned for his behaviour by his senior,”
The officer reportedly shot his boss five times, killing him instantly. Police recovered five 7.62mm spent cartridges at the scene.
Mr Mutua disclosed that the suspect fled the scene immediately after the incident, with police pursuing him.
“The suspect is armed but we are doing all we can to apprehended him,” Mutua said.
The operatives drawn from the administration police unit were stationed at the privately owned farm with a different command structure.
“They are leading the team that is conducting investigations following the shooting incident,” added Mr Mutua.
The slain officer’s body was later deposited in a private mortuary in Maai Mahiu awaiting postmortem.
