Prof. Adichie, father of prolific writer, Chimamanda, dies at 88

 

Professor James Nwoye Adichie, father of award-winning Nigerian writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, has died at 88 years.

Late Professor Adichie who became Nigeria’s first Professor of Statistics, died on Wednesday night June 10. Before his death, he was admitted into the Chira Memorial Hospital in Awkuzu, Oyi local government area of Anambra State.

The Emeritus Professor of Statistics and Mathematics at the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) celebrated his 88th birthday on March 1. He became a Professor of Statistics in 1976.

He is survived by his wife and children.
