The first Nigerian woman to attain a doctorate degree in philosophy, Professor Sophie Oluwole has died at the age of 83.
According to family sources, Professor Oluwole who was popularly known as Mamalawo, died on Sundayat about 8pm after a protracted illness.
Oluwole taught African Philosophy at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) for six years between 2002 and 2008 and was a practitioner of Yoruba philosophy.
