For the second time in a space of three weeks, the House of Representatives has summoned President Muhammadu Buhari to address the chamber on what efforts he is making to arrest the rising insecurity in the country.
The House sent out the invitation Thursday after a similar invitation was issued in the second week of April. The president did not, however, honour the first invitation which informed the second one.
On the first invitation, the House had unanimously adopted a motion with the mandate to issue a query to the President, asking him to explain the spate of insecurity under his administration within 48 hours.
The lawmakers resolved to “request that the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces address the House and the entire nation within 48 hours”
At the plenary on Tuesday, another motion was adopted on the security crises in parts of Katsina State, making the chamber to re-invite the President.
