Sokoto communities thrown into panic as bandits send threat letter


Four Sokoto State communities have been thrown into panic as terrorist bandits have sent them threat letter of planned attacks.

The residents of Dange/Shuni Local Government Area of the state where the letter were sent are now divided whether to flee their homes or stay put and suffer the outcome of the attack.

Bandits escaping military onslaught in Zamfara state, had reportedly attacked Tureta Local Government Area of Sokoto on last Wednesday, where six persons were killed with houses and shops ransacked as the bandits searched for foodstuff.

The letter of planned attack was in written in Hausa language and found under a tree in Kwanar Kimba village of Shuni on Saturday, September 11.

The terrorist bandits who listed Shuni, Kwanar Kimba, Rikina and Dange as targets of the planned attacks, also boasted that no force can stop them from carrying out their planned attack.

“A million army personnel will not stop us from carrying out the attack, which may be carried out any moment from now,” the alleged threat letter reads.

A journalist and member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Sokoto state chapter and resident of one of the communities targeted by the bandits said that since the discovery of the letter panic has gripped members of the four communities and their surroundings.

According to him, all the security agencies have been informed of the development as he asked them to take the threat seriously.

He disclosed that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the area has been informed as well as the head of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other security personnel operating within the area.
