The Anambra State Government has appointed Mr. Obumneme Akunyili, the son of the late Minister of Information, Prof Dora Akunyili, as the Director General Project Monitoring Office.
Obumnene, 30, graduated with a degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland, United States, and after his compulsory national youth service, he went into business as an entrepreneur.
He also went for his MBA at the University of Wales, Trinity, St David, with an emphasis on international business. On his return to Nigeria, he served at his father’s Hospital (St Leo’s Hospital, Enugu) as the Chief Procurement Officer before he was appointed as senior Special Assistant in the Anambra State Project Monitoring and Management Office by former governor of the state , Willie Obiano and later elevated to Director General of the same office by Obiano.
Obumnene, is the last son of the late Prof Akunyili and a cousin to Soludo’s wife, Nonye.
A statement by the Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu, said others appointed by Soludo include Special Adviser, Legislative/State Assembly Matters – Hon Anayo Nebe; Special Adviser, Political Matters – Dr. Alex Obiogbolu; Special Adviser, Medicals and Pharmaceuticals – Dr. Godwin Nnadozie; Chairman of Governing Board, Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA) – Dr. Emma Ezenwaji.
Others are : MD/CEO, Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA) – Mr. Mike Ozoemena; MD/CEO, Anambra State Health Insurance Agency – Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi; MD/CEO, Anambra State Signage and Advertising Agency – Mr. Tony Ujubuonu; Special Adviser, Local Government Affairs-Barr. Raphael Asha Nnabuife; MD, Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) -Mr. Chido Obidiegwu; and MD, Anambra State Erosion, Watershed and Climate Change Agency (ANSEWCCA)-Prof. Phil O. Phil-Eze.
