As part of activities to celebrate Nigerian teachers on this year’s World Teachers Day, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved a special salary scale and new retirement age for teachers.
The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, made the teachers package known during the commemoration on Monday in Abuja.
According to Adamu, the president increased the number of service years for the teachers from 35 to 40.
He explained that the implementation of the new teachers’ salary scheme was to encourage the teachers in delivering better services.
Nigerian teachers, over the years, have continued to agitate amongst others, for an increase in their retirement age, welfare, and salaries.
