Reverse Twitter Ban now, U.S Government insists

Days after the social media platform pulled down President Muhammadu war mongering comment targeted at people of the southeast, the Buhari government has suspended Twitter operation in Nigeria.

The Federal government announced the indefinite suspension of Twitter’s operations in Nigeria as a tit for tat.

The government spokesman Lai Mohammed, released a statement on Friday, announcing the suspension.

The statement read in part;

”The Federal Government has suspended, indefinitely, the operations of the microblogging and social networking service, Twitter, in Nigeria.

Lai Mohammed cited the persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence.

The Minister said the Federal Government has also directed the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to immediately commence the process of licensing all OTT and social media operations in Nigeria.”
