According to the school’s policy, a candidate must be 16 years before he/she can be offered admission into UNILAG. As a result, David was not allowed to participate in the post UTME exams. UNILAG told him to try again next year when he comes of age.

The development was said to have enraged many Nigerians who felt that for a young lad to have shown such exceptional qualities, a waiver could have been considered for him.

Some of them cited situations in some advanced countries where exceptionally brilliant young boys and girls have become professors at much tender age. UNILAG authorities, however, said the law must be followed.

David, who hopes to become a neurosurgeon, has resigned himself to fate and is expected to try again next year to study his choice of course.

David’s interest in the medical profession was reportedly, evoked after he watched doctors battle to save the life of his late father when he was just eight years old. Since then, David vowed to study medicine so he can save lives. He said he will not let this minor setback stop him.

  1. I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and was wondering what all is needed to get set up? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very internet smart so I’m not 100 sure. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks
