Unknown gunmen attack ‘stop and search’ police patrol team in Bayelsa

 

Unknown gunmen suspected to be cultists have attacked a police patrol team on stop and search at Kolo-Ogbia road, in Bayelsa State.

The incident occurred at Ogbia Local Government Area of the state during which a riffle belonging to a police inspector who was injured in the attack, was stolen.

Bayelsa police command spokesman, SP Asinim Butswat confirmed the incident and also disclosed that only the inspector sustained an injury. He further disclosed that an investigation is ongoing.

Butswat wrote in the state police medicines WhatsApp forum;

“Police officers who were conducting stop and search operations along Kolo-Ogbia Road, were attacked by gunmen suspected to be cultists, on 11 October, 2021, at about 2245hours.

“A Police inspector was fatally injured and his riffle was carted away. Investigation is ongoing to apprehend the gunmen and recover the stolen riffle.”
