The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. William Symington, is billed to deliver the 2018 Convocation Lecture of the University of Ilorin on Oct. 22.
A statement by the University’s Registrar, Dr. Folaranmi Olowoleni, on Monday said the lecture titled: “Citizen Leadership and the Link between Economic Diversity and Democratic Good Governance,” is one of the activities of the 34th Convocation Ceremony of the university.
He said the ceremony is slated to commence on Friday, Oct. 12 with a prayer at the university Mosque and an interdenominational prayer on Sunday, Oct. 14.
Olowoleni said Tuesday, Oct. 23, would be for award of prizes, to first and postgraduate degrees, diplomas and postgraduate diplomas for all the 15 faculties and postgraduate school.
“This will be preceded by the convocation paper to be delivered by former Nigerian Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari.
“The paper to be presented is titled: “Education for Peace, Democracy and Development,” he said.
Among dignitaries expected to grace the occasion are the Visitor to the University, President Muhammadu Buhari, the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu; state governors and Heads of federal education parastatals, among others.
