A 200-level student of Babcock University tried to take her life on February 14 celebrated as St. Valentine’s Day, because her boyfriend did not buy her a Valentine’s Day gift.
The girl, whose name was given as Susan is a student of the Public and Allied Health Department in the university. She jumped from a 3-storey building in an attempt to kill herself.
The student was said to have attempted the suicide because she didn’t get a Valentine gift from her boyfriend. However other sources said she’s been battling with depression for a while.
Susan is still in coma at Babcock University Teaching Hospital (BUTH) where she was rushed to after the suicide attempt.
St Valentine’s Day is used to celebrate love, but many have come to interpret to mean a day of sexual exploits, leading many into depression and in some cases, suicide.
