The raging scandal over the authenticity of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) result of Senator Ademola Adeleke may have been put to rest as the examination body has confirmed that he sat for the 1981 May/April examination.
has authenticated the certificate of the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State, Ademola Adeleke.
Adeleke, who currently represents Osun West senatorial district, as candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for Saturday’s governorship election was recently accused of parading a forged O’level result, shortly after emerging the candidate of the party.
Two members of the PDP, Rasheed Olabayo and Oluwaseun Idowu, had approached the court seeking an interlocutory order to set aside the election of Adeleke as the candidate of the party and to stop him from parading himself as one, insisting that he did not satisfy the constitutional requirements to contest the governorship primary.
At the hearing of the case Wednesday, the examination body said Adeleke sat for the examination in 1981.
An affidavit sworn to by a Deputy Registrar, Head of School Examination Department, WAEC, Henry Sunday Adewunmi Osindeinde, said Adeleke sat for the May/April 1981 at Ede Muslim High School, Yidi Road, Ede, with Centre Number: 19645 and Candidate Number 149.
