An 18 year old student, Usama Abubakar has been remanded in prison for stabbing one Saufullahi Abdullahi leaving him with serious bodily injuries. Abubakar is standing trial for allegedly inflicting injuries on Abdullahi
A Sokoto Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday ordered Abubakar to remain in prison to enable the police to conclude its investigation into the case.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Monday Kennedy, had told the court that the case was reported at the Ugwuan Rogo Police Station, Sokoto, by Abdullahi on Aug. 25.
According to him, Abubakar accosted the complainant at Tundun Wada area of the state and used a knife to stab the complainant 11 times, thereby causing him serious injuries.
Kennedy therefore, prayed the court to adjourn the case in order to allow the complainant who is still receiving treatment in a hospital, to recover to give testimony in court. He said Abubakar’s offence contravened Section 247 of the Penal Code.
Abubakar, a resident of Tundun Wada area of Sokoto, pleaded guilty to the charge of causing grievous hurt levelled against him.
The court’s Chief Magistrate, Malam Shu’aibu Ahmed, adjourned the case until Sept. 10 for further mention.
